Demand of Chartered Quantity Surveyor 


Chartered Surveyor Role: 

The chartered surveyor role is important in the construction industry. He is the one to track the project terms of cost on a daily basis. There are two parts of roles for quantity surveyors

1) Pre-contract Quantity Surveyors 
2) Post Contract Quantity Surveyors

The pre-contract quantity surveyor will take the following responsibilities:

  • Sending Request for Quotation documents 
  • Preparing Technical Submission documents 
  • Preparing Commercial Submission documents 
  • Receiving the prices for the appropriate BOQ documents 
  • Tender Analysis 
  • Arranging a tender review meeting 
  • Coordinating with Office administration staff for site visit(s)
  • Estimation of BOQ items 
  • Preparing correspondence documents between client/main contractor and the tenderer
The post-contract quantity surveyor will take the following responsibilities:

  • Preparing correspondence documents between client/main contractor and the suppliers
  • Preparing Payment Application (if not working directly with client) 
  • Preparing Payment Certification (if working directly with contractor) 
  • Variation submission
  • Claim Submission
  • Cost report preparation (CVR)
  • Verification of Progress
  • Coordinating with other team members for the cost tracking 
The salary range for the chartered quantity surveyors in india (entry-level positions) earning 2.75 lakhs to 5.5 lakhs annually and senior-level roles in quantity surveyors (more than 10 years experience) earning 18 lakhs to 32 lakhs annually.
