When I was working in a construction company, there was an issue regarding the measurement of the valve box. The estimation department in the same company measured the valve box as per CESSM3 (Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement, Third Edition). but excluding the mechanical parts inside the valve box. The Estimation department in the same company was not aware of the impact of these items; unfortunately, the valve box was constructed for large-bore pipes.
There were no remarks or notes in the tender BOQ, the contract was already awarded. When we executed this project, our team identified that these small errors cost SAR millions. When we clarified with the Estimation Department, the Estimation Department did not respond properly.
They are not ready to accept his errors. our team reanalyzed this issue, and we intimated this issue to the top management, and top management accepted this impact of this issue.
We prepared contemporary site records with all the supporting documents for the consultant and negotiated with proper justification; we were awarded 75% of the cost after many rounds of discussions.
