TECHNICAL ENGLISH GRAMMAR FOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR
COMPOUND TENSE
Compound Verbs consists of Main Verb + One or More Auxiliary Verbs.
The compound tenses are a combination of present or past tense with progressive or perfect form.
These are the possible combinations:
Present Progressive = present of be + ing participle
Past Progressive = past of be + ing participle
Present Perfect = present of have + ed participle
Past Perfect = past of have + ed participle
Past Perfect = past of have + ed participle
Present Perfect Progressive = present of have + past participle of be + ing
Past Perfect Progressive = past of have + past participle of be + ing
Example:
1) I am repairing a computer at the moment, so I cannot come.
2) She was preparing a cake as she listened to the TV.
3) Mohan has walked more than 2 KM for charity.
4) Rosylin had really believed what she was told.
5) I had been sleeping before the telephone rang
